The Taff Trail Challenge

The group tackling the Taff Trail from Brecon to Cardiff on the 4th Sept are a mix of real cycling enthusiasts and people who see the bike as a legal way of getting from one pub to another asap, however the ride itself will certainly be a challenge- the sponsorship money will certainly be earned!

The ride will commence @ 11am and the circa 55 mile trail follows former tramways, railways, canals (and even canal paths in current use) along the abandoned Taff Vale Railway and The Glamorganshire Canal.

From Brecon, the trail climbs up to 439m towards Torpantau, but the good news is that its downhill all the way to the finishing post from there, see the sea level diagram below, taken from the Sustrans leaflet here.

The finishing line is in Sophia Gardens, the intention is for supporters & well wishers to congregate at the pub "Y Mochyn Du" - the food there is highly regarded! So if you're free on Saturday 4th Sept afternoon at 6pm*, please come along to show your support, it will be much appreciated.

*The exact times & itinerary will be published by the 28th August.

Note that the cyclists can use the shower & changing facilities in the Welsh Institute of Sport opposite the pub.
